Since its establishment in November 2008, the ACCIONA Microenergia foundation has counted on the inestimable collaboration of more than 150 volunteers, in person and virtually, who have come mainly from the ACCIONA's Corporate Volunteering, as well as from the ICAI Engineers for Development foundation and the Technical University of Madrid.
On site, those volunteers have participated in different activities, such as user identification, solar home systems (SHS) distribution, supervision of the SHS startup, implementation of an exploitation management system, support on preventive and corrective maintaining, etc. And, those who could not travel to the locations where ACCIONA Microenergia develops its projects have collaborated in technical, administrative, managerial, economic, communication and funding tasks.
In 2015, the ACCIONA Microenergia foundation has counted on 14 volunteers in person, two in Oaxaca for the first time, who have supported in different activities such as the inspection of the operative installations, the technical & entrepreneurial training and the opening of the 'Centros Luz en Casa' in Cajamarca (Peru), and new users identification in Oaxaca (Mexico). Besides, the foundation has had the regular collaboration of two additional volunteers who, once they retired from their jobs, decided to offer their experience and knowledge, and dedicate part of their time to the ongoing projects.

ACCIONA Microenergia and the Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are included in the 2030 Agenda, a 15-year plan of action that favours the people, the planet and the prosperity. There are 17 SDG which are integrated and indivisible and that comprise the three dimensions of the Development: economic, social and environmental.
The rural electrification programmes of the ACCIONA Microenergia foundation impact on those three dimensions, and directly on the SDG 7.- Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
The volunteers are a fundamental part in the foundation's projects because, as the 2030 Agenda identifies, they are also actors in the implementation of the necessary actions to achieve the SDG.
It is the ACCIONA's corporate foundation and its target is the Development Cooperation, by promoting the access to basic services and infrastructures to people and communities without expectations to cover those needs.
