On September 29th and 30th the University of Granada, Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (i4SD) and Social Entrepreneurship School held the First Forum on Engineering for the Sustainable Development in Granada. This initiative is launched with the aim of having a reference forum for the interchange of knowledge and collaboration between public and private sectors, within the framework of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and the European research and innovation programme ‘Horizon 2020’.
During this two-day event several communications, presentations, debates and plenary sessions were developed to address six thematic areas: Energy and Sustainable Development, Water and Sanitation, Smart Cities and Sustainable Homes, Sustainable Infrastructure and Transportation, Funding for the Sustainable Development and Horizon 2020.
The ACCIONA Microenergia foundation, which sponsored this forum, participated in the round table “Energy and Sustainable Development”, where different large and small renewable-energy practices were put together. ACCIONA Microenergia and the Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are included in the 2030 Agenda, a 15-year plan of action that favours the people, the planet and the prosperity. There are 17 SDG which are integrated and indivisible and that comprise the three dimensions of the Development: economic, social and environmental.
The rural electrification programmes of the ACCIONA Microenergia foundation impact on those three dimensions, and directly on the SDG 7, Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
By participating in the First Forum on Engineering for the Sustainable Development the SDG17, Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, is impacted too: professionals and researchers from different sectors have shared big and small projects in urban and rural areas, in searching for sustainable solutions for the Human Development and thus improving the living conditions of people globally.
It is the ACCIONA’s corporate foundation and has as objective the development cooperation, through the promotion of the access to basic services and infrastructures of people and communities that have no expectations of covering those needs.
