Microenergy Peru: A sustainable model for rural electrification with renewable energy

This article describes the initiative undertaken by the ACCIONA Microenergy Foundation to the electrification of isolated rural communities of Cajamarca (Peru). The nonprofit initiative called Microenergy Peru, is to facilitate access to basic electricity services through renewable energy and a fee for service model, to the isolated rural communities of Cajamarca (Peru).


The paper describes the approach, its development, parallel changes in the regulatory framework, and the current status of the project.
